Hrvatske Autoceste d.o.o. limited liability company for operation, construction and maintenance of motorways was established on 11 April 2001 as one of the two legal successors of Hrvatska Uprava za Ceste. The company is 100 % state-owned.
Pursuant to the Roads Act Hrvatske Autoceste company was established with the purpose of operating, building and maintaining all motorways except for those managed by concession companies.
According to the Roads Act the planning of the construction and maintenance of motorways is carried out through the following programme planning documents:
- In the long term through the Public Roads Development Strategy adopted by the Croatian Parliament
- In the medium term through the four year programmes of construction and maintenance of public roads as adopted by the Government of the Republic of Croatia at the proposal of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure
- Annually, through the construction and maintenance plans that are adopted by Hrvatske Autoceste d.o.o. with the consent of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
Hrvatske Autoceste d.o.o. are continually oriented to the improvement of all their processes, which is proved by numerous certificates for the management system of quality, environment, health and safety at work, road traffic safety, energy management and anti-bribery management system.
