Project for improving safety on the A3 Motorway Section between the Lipovljani and Nova Gradiška Interchanges
On the A3 motorway (Bregana – Zagreb – Lipovac), between the Lipovljani and Nova Gradiška interchanges, a project is being implemented to improve traffic safety through the installation of a new guardrail (safety barrier).
The objective of the project is to harmonize the system of guardrails on the specified section of the A3 motorway with applicable regulations, standards, and EU directives, as well as to improve traffic safety through the enhancement of passive protection systems. This will directly contribute to reducing the consequences of traffic accidents (decreasing the number of fatalities and injuries).
The project foresees the replacement of the existing guardrails and the installation of approximately 175 kilometres of new guardrails along both sides of the motorway, in both directions.
The project is implemented in accordance with EU Directives 2008/96/EC and 2019/1936 on road infrastructure safety management, ensuring that the section is aligned with current European safety standards.
By replacing the existing and installing new guardrails, safety conditions on this motorway section will be significantly improved. This will reduce the risk of severe traffic accidents and increase the level of protection for all road users, particularly under challenging or adverse driving conditions. Ultimately, this measure contributes to a safer and more efficient transport system and greater user satisfaction.
The project is co-financed through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
